Fride Berg Standerholen holds a PhD in reproductive biology, a Master's degree in industrial biotechnology from Hedmark University College with a specialization in experimental biotechnology and a Bachelor's degree in biotechnology from the University of Life Sciences at Ås. Fride's PhD has aimed to make a closer assessment of flow cytometry as a method for studying the functionality of bull sperm in connection with sperm processing methods and fertility data after artificial insemination. One of the main findings showed that there were differences in selected sperm functionality parameters between standard Biladyl (B) and immobilized SpermVital (SV) processed sperm. Sperm quality parameters, such as plasma membrane and acrosome integrity, which are considered important for fertilization itself, were not correlated with fertility data that showed similar fertility levels between B and SV sperm.
