What is SpermVital?
SpermVital offers a technology based on long-term preservation of bovine semen, suitable for all breeds.
By immobilizing sperm in alginate, a natural substance extracted from seaweed, the cells save energy, which in turn increases survival.
The product gradually dissolves after insemination, giving the farmer greater flexibility around the timing of insemination, in addition to savings in time and costs.
Why use SpermVital?
- The timing of insemination becomes less critical
- The fertilization rate will be higher or at least as high as with regular sperm
- The number of inseminations per heat can be reduced
- Inseminations on weekends and holidays can be reduced or avoided altogether
- Can be used both with and without synchronization
- Standard insemination routines and equipment can be used (We recommend thawing the semen dose at 36-38°C for a minimum of 1 minute. After thawing, we recommend that the semen is inseminated as soon as possible)
About us
SpermVital is a global player established in 2008, and is a subsidiary of Geno SA. Our patented technology has been developed through many years of focused research, development and international commercial efforts.
The company currently consists of 12 highly committed employees with solid professional expertise in semen production, international B2B business, cell biology, veterinary medicine and biopolymers.
We are located at the Center for Environment and Biotechnology in Hamar, and collaborate closely with leading academic environments in Norway, including SINTEF, NMBU and the University of Innlandet.
We are positioning ourselves for further growth with partners around the world, and have great ambitions to develop the technology further.
